"Blast from the Past" repost #5: Angoulême mini-poster/1992

I made this mini-poster (11” by 17”) to go with my Mirage buddies when they flew to the famous comic show in Angoulême, France in 1992. I had a lot of fun with this one -- I “cyberinked” the pencil drawing of the turtles and the machines, then colored it in Photoshop. There are even two photos of me which I incorporated into the artwork.

Below is the pencil drawing which I “cyberinked” for the Angoulême mini-poster. -- PL

  1. -->> ..similar to the hiding effect of the ' Donatello's Computer ' piece from the portfolio.

Wondering if the symbolism one can see is intentional on this like the Don piece.

  3. Peter,

Now that we are talking Blast from the Past....

Where did the name Baxter Stockman come from, and any reason on why that name was decided?

Reason being, is that I'm currently trying to get a series idea of my own fleshed out and I asked an Aussie friend of mine for an upper class, English snooty sounding name. he recommended a first name and Baxter as the last..

I always thought Baxter might have been an American name, heh.

  4. I really like the Angouleme Festival. It would have been a blast to have gone to France with the Mirage guys.

  5. I went to the Angouleme show in 2006. Really an amazing time and I would love to get back there. I still think about it quite often. I even got to meet Stan there, which was a big reason I travelled all the way there, from here in Australia.

  6. This is an odd one for me, but for once I'm more of a fan of the art before color is added. *shruggs*

  7. You know, these are reminding me of a question I meant to ask you about the possible Collected book 1 reprint

Given how it fits into the story, and the low chances of us seeing a reprint otherwise, and how long it has been out of print, do you think there's any chance of your adding the "FUGITIOD #1" material Into the trade if it is released?

  8. Peter I have a question also, you may not be able to answer it but here it goes anyway.
With the Neca's release of the mousers and April coming with Mousers does Baxter Stockman stand a chance of being made as a toy?
I really hope he doesn't get the shaft in the line, we've yet to get a human Baxter figure which blows my mind.
    Thanks

Vaughn, I would also like to see a NECA version of Baxter Stockman, and I think it is possible -- just HOW possible, I can't say. I think it all depends on how well the other non-Turtle figures sell. -- PL

That's not a bad idea, and I will certainly consider it. (Although it would mean two tellings of the Fugitoid's origin story in one book... hmmm...) -- PL

  11. Thanks Peter, the poor guy always gets left out lol
I'll just have to buy a case of the non-tmnt figures, but honestly I think with characters like Shredder, and army builders like Foot Soldiers & Elite Guards they won't have to worry about sales at all.
Especially if they bring out a differnt color Foot Soldier box set ;)

  12. From what I have seen, cyberinking will become the industry standard.
