Blast from the Past #94: Fugitoid birthday card

I know I drew this for someone's birthday card, but I can't remember who. Kind of a funny image. -- PL

It reminds one of Sesame Street for some reason. Guess cuz he's pretty cute.

Vaughn would have a better eye for that charm , tho'. Muppets is his expertise. Wow.

    Dave,
Your half right Muppets is indeed one of my obsessions but my TMNT obsession is much stronger with all the custom toys I do and stuff :)

  4. It DID look a little off from the usual Fugitoid style....but I didn't think Seasame Street until someone mentioned it :).

Peter, a Back to the Sewers (hence forth known as BTTS for short) set of questions..

What do you think of Viral as a character? I didn't care for her first appearance, since Star Trek had done the 'Holodeck gone awry' story to death, but she sort of grew on me. Are they in the present because they are popular characters, or because Serling will prove useful? ;) He's a favorite of mine too..

Now that a direction has been decided on, are the first 13 episodes of season 7 part one, and we'll get another 13 later next year, just like Fast Forward? FF started off with 13 and wound up having a full 26.

Viral is a tough character to write, as she is so powerful that it's difficult to find ways to counter her. I think she worked perfectly for the beginning of this season, though. We brought Serling into this BTTS season for a few reasons. We liked the idea of having an important element from "Fast Forward" follow the Turtles back to the present, almost as a way of honoring and acknowledging that "Fast Forward" had really happened and was part of the Turtles history. Plus, I think he plays an important role in several episodes this season.

No, this season is just 13 episodes. -- PL

  6. -->> Well i guess Viral's gonna be a little easier to write for ' NOW ' that's she's a little more familiar and overwritten.

  7. Poor Fugitoid. Nice card!

Off topic-- got to see the first episode. I must say that I have better feelings about it.

Not happy about the eyes or my Splinter, but after getting into the action I tended to find that the eyes didn't really distract. Much.

Will Fugitoid meet up with Serling? That should be some fun.

Any chance of future seasons going back to the 26 episode mark?

It would help to better flesh out 4Kid's programming block.

  9. Thank God no one said "It's NINJA TIME!"....

Hey! That Sean Connery dude who thought he'd dealt with them himself... that's NOT the Ultimate Ninja is it? 'Cause that would disappoint me on that whole second chance stuff....

On the other hand, it would fit in with my evil fan fiction stuff that you don't know about...

    ...

    Oops...

  13. I'm so glad they're keeping parts of Fast Forward in the storyline.
I really hate how people whine and complain about the season and make it seems worse than it is.
I really don't see anything all that differnt in it at all.
I think allot of TMNT fans just have something against the future, sort of like how they hate how vol. 4 takes place when the turtles are a bit older and the aliens are around.
Seriously, it's like get over it already.
You want to make a better story go make your own show or comic book.

With that being said this first episode was great and I hope the rest of the season does not dissapoint. :)

And you know me Peter I can't go one post without a toy question or comment! haha
Do you know if by any chance we will be seeing toys based on the Back To The Sewer series? Or are we only going to keep seeing figures based on the movie look?
    Thanks!

I asked Gary Richardson (Mirage's CEO) this question last week, and this is what he told me:

"Playmates will indeed be selling some BTS connected figures, at least a Cyber line."

  15. First things first, the Fugitoid card. I kind of feel sorry for the guy, having cake all over his head. Hopefully, it's a simulated cake like his beer in Volume 4, issue 29, and he can enjoy it after he gets it off o' his noggin.

"Playmates will indeed be selling some BTS connected figures, at least a Cyber line."

Gosh, I hope it's more than just that, and that they come out soon. This year has been rather dry in terms of figures... some mini-mutants, Turtle variants, and what, two basic villains in the US? And we haven't seen any of the Turtles' allies get figures in well over a year.

  16. -->> S, you pointed out that Metal Klaws was in the show, sure enuff' it's brief but he appears in the show.

Aside all the trouble Playmates and other toy companies are having with getting product out over seas, some of the delayed product might be intentional to get the hype up for the T V show so they can bank on it.

  17. Pete,
Thanks so much for the answer!
I was really getting worried as Playmates people had no idea.
It'd be great if they got a few out by christmast at least.
I think that would really help sales.
I'll be sure to buy a set as long as they are brand new sculpts and they stop using those tired movie turtles.
I'm really excited about this all having conections to Fast Forward as I'm a big fan of it.
I still wish they would release that last wave of Fast Forward figures, I mean the show is still playing on Fox.

  18. How cute. ^^

Slightly on topic, but somewhat off topic, I've recently read all of Volume 4 on Wowio there is so far. I must say I enjoyed it, and was even up into the wee hours of the morning last night finishing it.

The issue that sticks out to me most is #22, April's story. I liked the perspective of that view into the past. An interesting twist to the proverbial fly on the wall.

It's kind of weird, but it's also cool that the Turtles can mingle with the humans. Of course, they could do that in Fast Forward, but this is a lot different and unlike Fast Forward, I like that.

I can understand Volume 4 may not be everyone's cup of tea. It does require to be open-minded, especially with April's origin, but they do have a choice to either accept it or walk away and leave it alone. You're entitled to your opinions, but after repeatedly bashing it and complaining, it gets tiresome and annoying very quickly. Yeah, I think we got it about the first one hundred times you don't like it. You can stop sounding like a broken record anytime now.

What are you hoping to accomplish? This isn't your comic book and you can't make anyone change their direction to fit your preferences. If you're really that unhappy, try putting the energy you're using to rant and rave and do something constructive like making your own comic or story. That way, you can control what you want it to be instead of causing your constant drama on the matter because you can't let go of the fact the comic is not going to change for your persistant whining just to please you and getting on others' nerves in the process.

BTW, this isn't really directed at anyone in particular. It's a general rant from all the less than desirable comments I've read over the years, but it got a little long. I guess it's the Leonardo in me.

    Um, anyway...

I like where the comic is going and I can't for the next issue. :)
