I found this recently in a sketchbook that I rarely use. It's a drawing I did several years ago as the basis for a "congratulations card" for Kevin Munroe, the director of the fourth Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. I really liked what he had done with the movie, so I drew this up...
... then scanned it, put some word balloons in with dialogue from all four Turtles saying congratulatory things, and sent it to him. If I remember correctly, I think he got a kick out of it. -- PL

Blast from the Past #277: "Amazing Heroes" cover in black and white
As I recall, this one was a lot of fun to draw. I did this in 1986 for the cover to an issue of "Amazing Heroes", a now-defunct magazine about comics from Fantagraphics. I believe there was an interview with me and Kevin in that issue.

This is the black and white version -- for the finished cover, I colored the other companies' characters, but rendered the Turtles in shades of grey using my airbrush. -- PL

Blast from the Past #218: "TMNT Guide to the Universe" cover inks
This art is from the wraparound cover of the Palladium Books-published "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Guide to the Universe", described in a wikipedia.org entry as follows:
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Guide To The Universe is a role-playing game supplement to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness game. It was published by Palladium Books in 1987 and uses the Palladium Megaversal system."

As I recall, I had a lot of fun doing this drawing. I even did the colors on it for the finished published cover. -- PL

Blast from the Past #46 repost: Alien Snake Hunter
Here’s another piece from 1983, the early days of Mirage Studios, pre-Turtles. Kevin and I did a bunch of these together. He would take various black and white drawings I had done, make copies of them, mount the copies on foam-core board, and proceed to apply his marvelous colors to them, usually Dr. Martin's dyes. Actually, it was in large part because we both liked the results so much that we decided to form Mirage Studios. Below is my original black and white art, then below that is Kevin's color version. -- PL
