"Quest for Dreams Lost" pencils

I penciled these layouts for "Quest for Dreams Lost", a one shot benefit comic (a fundraiser for the Literacy Volunteers of Chicago), back in 1986 or 1987. "Quest" was published in 1987, with all proceeds going to aid the LVOC. A number of other independent comics creators also provided stories featuring their characters searching for famous artifacts associated with literature. In this case, the Turtles were looking for King Arthur's sword Excalibur.

If memory serves (and I offer the caveat that I have not looked upon the finished work in many years), I believe Ryan Brown did the inking. -- PL

TMNT comic news

Here's the cover to the recently completed (like, yesterday) TMNT #30:

I handed it over to Dan Berger yesterday and he has sent it off to the printer. We're now waiting to see the printer's proof. Hopefully, within a few weeks we will have printed copies and will be able to begin fulfilling mail orders. Shortly after that starts, we will put it up online for free. The pricing is the same as for issue #29 -- $10.00 per copy (I think there may also be shipping and handling -- check the ninjaturtles.com site to make sure). I will also be doing Turtle head sketches on the inside back covers of each of at least the first 150 copies that go out via mail order. -- PL

Blast from the Past repost #89: front cover of special PBBZ Limited Edition reprint of TMNT Volume 1, #1

This is the front cover to a special limited edition (3000 copies) of the first issue of TMNT which was available for the first time at the Portsmouth, NH comic con on May 22 of 2004. What was new about this reprint was that I had retoned and relettered it, as part of a long-term effort to "remaster" all of the old issues of TMNT. There was also an essay by Ralph DiBernardo, who -- 21 years ago -- produced the Portsmouth Minicon at which Kevin and I premiered the first issue of the TMNT.

And for this twenty-fifth anniversary year, on "Free Comic Book Day", Dan Berger, Michael Dooney, Steve Lavigne, Jim Lawson, Steve Murphy, Eric Talbot and I will be doing a signing at Jetpack Comics (Ralph's store) in Rochester, NH from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 2. A nice kind of almost perfect symmetry -- Kevin and I attended Ralph's Portsmouth Minicon to premiere the first issue of TMNT on May 5, 1984. -- PL
