"Chet"

Keen-eyed readers of the original Eastman and Laird TMNT comics probably are aware that the name "Chet" pops up quite a few times in those issues. There was really no reason other than the fact that, for some reason, at that time, Kevin and I found the name humorous. I don't really know why.

I was bicycling up to Florence today, and scrawled on one of the newly-paved portions of the bike path I saw this:

I actually had to double-back and look at it again to make sure I wasn't imagining it. Chet rules! -- PL

  1. The only other place I heard of it being mentioned, I believe, is in the Great OutDoors...... Dan Aykroyd says it to Chevy chase. IF you guys originated it, maybe someone on that movie was a fan?

  6. I always wondered if Chet was someone you two knew or if you just picked it at random.

  8. Actually, every time I saw "Chet" referenced in the comics it made me think of the Hardy Boy's "stout" friend, Chet. So I always had this image of the mysterious Chet as being heavy with curly red hair, a fat face, not fond of mysteries or adventure, but very fond of food.

  9. Do you plan on using Chet in a future comic issue or anything? because I'd think it would be interesting for the turtles to meet the person that originally owned them when they were normal.

Also, is there any way that Mona Lisa from the old toon might appear in the comics? since Hun was introduced into the comics well I think if Mona's background was changed a little she could fit too. Plus she's a pretty popular character that might even get some old toon fans to pick up a comic. She was also a nice fit for Raphael, unlike Ninjara and whatever the other one's name was.
