My pal Jim Lawson is a genius at designing and drawing cool vehicles. Going through my files of stuff related to the 4Kids TMNT show, I came across these intriguing sketch concepts he did for the "Turtle Tunneler", used in a number of episodes of the show. -- PL
Now if only someone could come up with a working version so I could get through freaking traffic here in L.A.
ReplyDelete#1 reminds me of the new Batman movies Batmobile. And of course, I love #5 for sentimental reasons :). I also love the irony that in this series, it's the turtles that have a Transport Module..
ReplyDeleteMy 25th Anniversary wish:
Letting Dan, Steve, Ryan and Murph loose on a comic based off the old show. Total restart after the fist five episodes, slight design changes to keep Fred Wolf off their backs, but same fun spirit :).
Technodrome stuck in Dimension x, a smarter Bebop and Rocksteady, Shredder and Krang not quite working as a team and at odds.. more ninja action and the story picks up from there :).
-->> Hey yeh, Neil .. #5 really looks allot like the Krang's old transport modules.

Wow!
ReplyDeleteAwesome design sketches!
So many choices!
I agree that # 1 does look like the new Batmobile!
And I also agree that # 5 looks almost exactly like the old transport from the cartoon!
I think # 10 kind of looks like the Batman: Animated Series Batmobile!
I like #8, kinda looks like a vintage steam locomotive :D
ReplyDeleteThese are all pretty cool looking alright, but the real question is what kind of mileage do they get?

I'm diggin' the front wheels on number 1--pun partially intended. :)
ReplyDeleteNumber 5 really does look like the old toon Transport Modules! hah man I love seeing this stuff!
ReplyDeleteBTW! I got the Quazine I orderd in the mail today! Very nice indeed the photos do it no justice! Simply awesome, I hope to see more site exclusives from Mirage.

I believe a colorized "spiritual" successor to the old cartoon/Archi Comics would be a great way of tapping into the mainstream casual TMNT fanbase.
#7 kinda reminds of the Tim Burton Batman Batmobile.
The Tunneler was a neat idea and I loved how it was used. #5 would have been interesting to see though. Very much in the spirit of the Old Toon's Foot Module.
