Turtles at the Hollywood Wax Museum

My daughter sent me these photos of a TMNT movie display at the Hollywood Wax Museum.

They're cute, but check out the absurdly long chain on Michelangelo's nunchaku! -- PL

  1. Maybe he wanted to work on his cardio stuff, and lengthened the chain rather than getting a jump rope. Kill two birds so to speak.

Oo... off-topic-- I found a first edition of Ninja Turtles. The seller wants $14,500.00. What is the most money anyone's ever paid for one. Do you know?

Cynthia, I think the price you mention above -- $14,500 -- is the highest I've ever heard of. Whether that price is realistic (in other words, whether someone actually PAYS that much for it) is another question. My gut feeling is that $14,500 is an absurd amount to pay for a copy of the first edition of TMNT #1.

But to answer your specific question, I don't know what the highest sale price is for that book. -- PL

  4. Are these based on the movie Turtles?

I think the wax figures look cool, although I have to admit, I wasn't really liking the actual Turtles costumes and desgins for movies 2 & 3.

Did you have any involvement in the look of the Turtles for any of the movies?

They do sort of look like they are based on the movie Turtles, don't they?

The only involvment I had with the look of the Turtles for the movies was in the approval phase. I don't remember any complaints we had about the Henson Turtle suits, although it's possible we commented on a detail or two. -- PL

  6. -->> ..if the chain was gonna be that long on the weapon, wouldn't there be a third piece ??

It almost looks like he's holdin' a ninja jump-rope

  7. Its funny to go to all the trouble of making nice detailed figures like that then not bothering to even research the look of the weapons. Mikey would have been better off without it.

$14,500 is an amazing price for sure. Its almost as if the person has just put it up for fun or doesn't really want to sell it unless it was some insane amount he/she got for it.

  10. I like the Cartoon logo with the Secret of the Ooze style. BTW, A TMNT #1 1st print form the original Mirage series goes for roughly $250 - $300 for a near mint copy. I have seen them go for close to $1000 on occasion. It really depends on the desire of the buyer and the condition of the item.
