While going through some stuff on my decktop computer, I came across some art I did for the 2005 Anthrocon convention in Philadelphia. It's possible that this stuff hasn't been widely seen, so I thought I would put it up here.
As "Guest of Honor" for the show that year (Stan Sakai was GoH in 2004, and was also there with us in 2005), I was asked to do a few drawings for various purposes, This first one was to be used as the wraparound cover of the Anthrocon program book. Here's a not-too-great digital photo of my blue-pencil drawing:
And here is my inked version:
Michael Dooney did a beautiful job coloring this art for the final cover, and I have that somewhere... just can't lay my hands on it at the moment. -- PL
I absolutely ADORE the shirt you did for that con (with Raph putting a sai thru a teddy bear) I like this pic too. :D Mike looks so peaceful :D
ReplyDeleteOOOO Super Turtles!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you share with us the story of the hot dog and the hyena? ;)
ReplyDeleteAwesome as usual I love your full blown art layouts.
ReplyDeleteI keep wishing you'd come back and honor us with some of your art in the comics just for a short while even.
I'd also seriously love some toys of the super tmnt.

I second that regarding Super Turtle figures-- and I'd also be happy to find a copy of the picture as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm with others-- why don't you illustrate a story or two-- something written by one of the others if not by yourself? I enjoy your style.

Superb Pete I love it! You have to release a book or something with all this art in it. I would just love to be able to hold it in my hands and absorb all the wonderful details.

Murph, that story is best told by the person it happened to -- Eric Talbot. -- PL

Thanks, Vaughn. The biggest problem for me in returning to drawing comics is that I don't draw as fast as I used to (probably because I don't draw as MUCH as I used to), and due to this, what might be a fun month-long job to create the art for a twenty-two page comic could turn into an unpleasant three or four month slog. -- PL
You're welcome Pete & sorry to hear but I have to say (and I'm sure I'm not alone in this) that you still got it.

Nice work.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the conversations we've had durring the 2005 anthrocon. I had the original 4 tmnt figures and the first two movies that you signed for me. I was very fan boyish but you helped me open up while we discussed the movies and so forth. I still have those figures but unfortunately the packaging have seen its better days.
