Also I gotta ask: your black and white scans always seem to turn out better than mine. Do you tweak them in Photoshop or in the scanning software? If so, how do you tweak them?

Many of the images I post of old artwork are not scanned per se, but are actually shot with my digital camera. However, I never use scanning software for anything other than the basic scanning, but I almost always use Photoshop for tweaking, for scanned or photographed images. Those tweaks typically only involve straightening, correcting distortion, altering brightness and contrast, adjusting color cast, and cleaning up with the eraser or brush tools any dirt or stray marks which don't belong on the art.
Although I may be missing out re: the scanning software, and there may be some real benefits to using the adjustment settings in it, I have to say I have always found scanner software to be kind of clunky. -- PL
Thanks for the tips - I don't get much use out of the scanning software, either. I've been using "levels" lately and getting pretty good results. Yours being digital photos... you must have a steadier hand than me!
Very nice battle stance! Looks like he is challenging Shredder for a final faceoff! :D
ReplyDeleteI must admit I never can get used to that tail.
