TMNT #31 with Peter Laird head sketch!

I stopped down at Mirage Studios a couple of days ago to deliver a box full of one hundred copies of TMNT Volume 4 #31, copies which I'd autographed and also within which I had drawn a large Turtle head sketch on the inside back cover.

I decided to lay them all out, with the sketch pages exposed, on the Mirage conference room table, and take a photo. Why? Who the heck knows.

This photo only shows part of the group -- I couldn't get a good angle to show them all, and the photos I took to create a panoramic image (using the PanoramaMaker5 software) which would show them all didn't work with that program, for some reason unknown to me.

While taking the photographs, I decided to count the copies to make sure there were actually one hundred… and was startled to find that there were only eighty-eight.

D'oh! I thought I was done with this! I guess I have to get out another twelve copies and grab my Sharpie markers again. -- PL

[Note -- these signed and sketched-in copies are for a special Mirage Licensing promotion seen here:

  4. When will you be signing in the DC or Maryland area? Was hoping to see you come to Awesome-con with Eastman but you're a busy man I see. I have a TMNT #5 1st print I want to get signed.

  5. Pete, have you seen this first turtle action figure? I just stumbled on it while doing a Google search for some of Kevin's older artwork. I thought it was pretty neat.

  6. Just got mine. If I had known they came in different colors I'd have ordered 3. Sad, one of my sketches was crushed pre shipment. Box everything looked normal, one of the sketches corners was bent along with a normal issue but the last one looks like someone tried to crumble the issue. A red sketch. Again, the package was in perfect shape. Still amazing. hopefully I can restore it.

    1. Mine arrived today and the same thing has happened, the packaging is fine but the top left of the issue was crumpled, guess this has maybe happened to a batch of them before being sent out? Still, I'm glad to have the print issue after all this time :-)

  7. Got mine in today, Peter! It looks fantastic. I snagged a blue one and an extra non-sketch copy for my run. Thanks for printing the issue, I'm still holding out hope that the series will still one day be completed. Love the story and this universe of the Turtles. Take care and thanks again!

Ignore the haters, it's been a great story we've been hooked on since 2001.

  14. Hi, Mr. Laird! These look great! I can't believe I missed them. My life has been busy lately, and I didn't realized I was behind by 2 issues. I just snagged three copies of #31 today from the website, but, much to my chagrin, #32 is sold out. I hope I can eventually get a copy of #32 one day, or perhaps there will be another promotion where it is available. I've been a loyal fan since birth, and have kept up greatly with the comics series. Will definitely make it a priority to check the Mirage website monthly from now on! Learned my lesson. I was wondering, if it's not too much trouble, to get one of the copies I just ordered signed? I know that's a lot to ask, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask, right?

    Thank you!

    1. My plan is to be at Steve Lavigne's "Shellback Artworks" store in Wells, Maine for Free Comic Book Day. I am hoping that Eric Talbot will go with me, though plans for that have not yet been finalized. -- PL
