Car full of comic books

Here's photo I took a couple of days ago, in the parking lot near Mirage Studios:

I filled up the back of my car with a pile of boxes of comics from my personal stash of Turtle stuff. It's part of an effort by me to trim down a somewhat bloated collection. Actually, this pile has been waiting for almost two years to get stuffed in my car and brought down to Mirage. (I think my next effort will be to winnow down my collection of TMNT toys, but that won't be for at least several months... unless I am suddenly filled with an unexpected burst of energy.)

Soon, Katie and Dan should be going through all these and cataloguing what's there so we can offer them for sale. In fact, maybe they've already done it! -- PL

  1. Hmmmm...TMNT issue 1 in there? I'm excited to see what goes up for sale.

Is it all going up on the Mirage site?

Peter I know I'm a pest, but if you have any turtles art or sketches sitting in a sketch book, please let me know. I would gladly give them a good home, haha.

  4. Now that is a comic book stash! ;) Loading that many comics seems like a good workout.

  5. Hi Mr. Laird, I was wondering if this one shot character in the original cartoon was meant to be Fugitoid before it got blocked. If any robot looks anything like him in the cartoon itself its this one.

Also, at the SDCC it was revealed the IDW turtles will retreat to the farmhouse in Northampton this Fall. Any chance we could see you as a citizen? What any easter egg that would be! :D

    1. I'm not sure what you mean by "before it got blocked", but I have no idea if someone working for Fred Wolf meant that robot to be some version of Fugitoid. It seems unlikely to me, but due to the fact that Kevin and I had little to do with most of the episodes of that show, it's impossible for me to say definitively one way or the other.

I don't know if I will show up as a resident of Northampton in the IDW books, as I have nothing to do with that ongoing series. -- PL

    2. Peter, I noticed an Easter Egg in the new Nickelodeon design for Casey Jones.

On one of his pads it has a Laird emblem, pretty cool.

    4. Really? I didn't notice that. Cool! But I knew about the Laird knee pads I it was great, too.

  6. I missed the boat on the initial release of TMNT 29 and 30. Fingers crossed there are a few of those still available somewhere.

  7. Hey Peter!
Cannot wait to see what treasures are hidden in those boxes! I've been collecting TMNT stuff for years. Growing up in North Adams, you are the hometown hero. I was hoping you would attend SDCC this year, so I could meet you, get your autograph; etc. I live in CA now, so hopefully you will make some appearances out here soon. J. Perras

    1. Some time ago -- maybe a month or two -- Kevin mentioned to me that there was some interest from the director in both of us doing cameos in the new movie. For several reasons, I declined to get involved in that way. But if Kevin is going ahead with it, I hope it turns out to be fun for him. -- PL

  10. Hey Peter, I know this isn't related to your post. Did you get a chance to go to the Boston MFA to see the samurai exhibit?
Katie and I went, and it was amazing.

    1. Chris, I did not get to it. I think Stan Sakai did, though. -- PL

  11. Hiya Peter,
I'm just curious but is there going to be any turtle-verse mayhem going on. It's been hinted at a crossover with the 80's turtles and the new ones but are the mirage turtles gonna be back in action any time soon?
    MS =^-^=

  12. Hey Mr. L,

You could just go ahead and send those toys my way if you want.
