Blast from the Past #53 repost: Unused Pages From TMNT #1, Vol. 4

Back in 2001, Jim Lawson had penciled eight pages of the first issue of the new TMNT comic, and I had started inking them, when he decided that he wasn't happy with the way he had drawn them, and wanted to start all over again. So he did! Some of the pages I had almost finished inking, although I hadn't done anything on page one (unless you want to count inking the panel border).

In my opinion, there was nothing wrong with any of these pages. (If it had been me who'd drawn them, I would have been happy to keep them as is.) But Jim felt he could do better, and redrew them. Pretty amazing. -- PL

Perhaps in time , SOMEONE whoever the heck is handling TMNT toys right now. Neca or Playmates or whatever..

it'd be cool to see Fugitoid's ' Moon Mode' here ..maybe like a smaller Fugi to fit into a larger version of his Moon Mech here.

  2. I like the art also perhaps when and if a trade is done of Volume 4 this bit can be included.

  3. Hey Pete-
The timing is pretty serendipitous, what with you posting some old Lawson art but I wanted to announce that I've started my own blog. It's " I hope folks will come and check it out from time to time.

I wish I could recall why I wanted to redo these pages- the ones we ended up using were so similar. Wacky.

  4. Crap, I can't believe I did that.
    My blog is:

  5. I think these are awesome! But sometimes its a moment thing. I've gone back and looked at writing I loved and think now "Dude, Lame"...and stuff I wrote and hated that now i think "This was pretty snazzy actually"

  6. I particularly like the robot shots. Nice work Jim.

  7. Thank you for sharing with everyone. I know everything about you. It's great and it's great.
