You never know what you're going to wake up to.
This morning, I got a "Google alert" which gave me the link below...
http://www.weirdcrimetheater.com/?tag=marty-pasko
... to an article on a site called "Weird Crime Theatre" in which some "Twitter" comments by a writer named Marty Pasko regarding TMNT are examined.
Here's one quote from Mr. Pasko from this article:
"If you REALLY wanna interview someone who’s a creator of TMNT as we know it, f*** Eastman & Laird; talk to David Wise"
The rest of it is about at the same level.
Really, you can't make this stuff up. -- PL
Some people need to think things through. David was an innovator and I am grateful for his part in the 1987 series variation that I grew up with, but one of a few innovators in the TMNT franchise much like Lloyd Goldfine is in another variation. They would not have been INOVATORS with out the creators which your one half of.
ReplyDeleteAllow me this opportunity to thank you for being apart of my childhood that still is there these years later.

ReplyDeleteBleeding Cool ran a piece on this last week. Entertaining, at the very least. But yeah, completely nutso.
Wow...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laugh!
I won't be buying anything written by that Pasko guy. Not because of the stupid things he said, but because he prefers the 1987 cartoon to the original TMNT comics.
ReplyDeleteFYI, David Wise (who denies creating the Turtles) recycles a lot of his ideas.

David Wise was pretty huge for TMNT, but that's like saying Bill Finger wasn't instrumental to Batman because Christopher Nolan made a couple of good Batman films!
ReplyDeleteTo David Wise's credit, he was blunt in his statement: Eastman and Laird deserved all the credit they got. He seemed embarrassed by the whole thing. Sounds like Marty Pasko overstepped his bounds on this one.
ReplyDeleteAny Turtle fan knows what the score is. Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the further adventures of which were authored by dozens of writers and illustrators. Because hundreds of guys wrote Superman comics doesn't detract at all from Siegel and Shuster.
Not sure how I missed this one... What Mr.Pasko said is just plain stupid. No denying that...... But Is there ANYTHING you liked from the original series? Or as time goes by, has it all just become a sour spot?
ReplyDeleteThere is no denying the 4Kids show is far cooler, but as kids growing up, the original Fred wolf show is what got alot of us started on the franchise. I didn't even know the comics existed until 1993, and when I found City At War, totally at random, it took me a long while to get into the darker, more serious attitude of the series. Of course, over time, I grew to appreciate it :)
It's just sad to see the occasional Fred wolf jibe in some of these production note emails ;o)..This show practically made Turtles What it is today..and without it, alot of cool stuff wouldn't have happened..
later!
